Give me some real food.

Oh the changes that are taking place! For starters, Trevin is eating food!  Just for laughs I tried giving him some cereal (baby cereal, that is) a couple weeks ago.  He had just turned 4 months so I expected it to be a major flop.  Well, it wasn't.  He figured it out so fast! That first meal, he was able to get most of it in his tummy, and not all over his face.  He loved it!  He had started to pay attention to food when James and I ate, so I thought we would just roll with it.  He gets two "meals" a day, around noon and supper time.  So far, he's liked everything I've given him.  Yes, even the green beans. :)  What a good boy.  He now thinks that anything that goes into my mouth, should go into his. Sorry, bud.

I believe that Trevin is starting to work on some teeth.  He's been drooling like crazy for weeks, and he tries to chew on anything he can get his hands on.  But the last couple days, he's been a bit more fussy. And I think I'm starting to feel some bumps on his gums.  Oh joy.  I'll be glad when this is over with! 

Also a week ago, (8-25) he rolled from his back to his tummy, and he hasn't looked back since.  He's a rolling machine.  Unless there's an audience...then he freezes and pretends he doesn't know how.  It can be a chore trying to change his diaper sometimes when he thinks he needs to be on his tummy.  He also is rolling in his sleep.  We find him on his tummy, on his back, on his side, and that's just during one nap! 

I've started my fall semester of classes, that is part of the reason it's taken me a while to update. It is going alright.  A little crazy at times, but we're managing so far.  Trevin's grandmas have been pitching in to make life a little easier for me.  I'm able to get a good couple days of school work in without interruption.  On the days I have him, and it's crucial for me to get something done, he's cooperated.  We were given a johnny jumper from James' sister, Bethany.  And we are soooooo thankful for it! He jumps and jumps in that thing.  And it works perfectly in the office so I can keep and eye on him while I'm on the computer.  I'm nervous about next semester, since I will be traveling to GI twice a week for classes.  But, that's a long way off and life will be much different by then! We'll probably have a boy walking around!

I took a sigh of relief when James announced last week that they were done irrigating.  I'm so thankful that we live in NE where we have the ability to irrigate, but it gets to be too much for too long.  Now we have a short break before harvesting.  But by break, I mean, lets build 5 pipe trailers, plant alfalfa, service the combine, and who knows what else.  And James said that the popcorn looks like it could be ready to go next week already.  May this be a fast and smooth harvest for this farmer's wife!  I've never looked forward to winter so much, but I'm ready to see my husband. :) 

We did make it to the state fair last Thursday.  Trevin loved being outside, (even if it was 90 degrees).  He was so good for us all day.  As we pulled out of our driveway I realized I left the camera, James said that he would take pictures with his phone, and you know what? I believed him. :(   We got one picture.  Trevin (and Dad's) first state fair, and I failed. haha oh well, there's always next year! I went back last night to see the one and only, Steve Miller Band.  They have been a favorite of mine since I could talk.  It's been a lifelong dream to see them in concert, before THEY die... They were famous in the 70's... I know, I know, it wasn't that long ago for some people, but for me it was. Anyways, it was amazing! So glad I was able to go.  That meant that James played housewife yesterday, and he did a fabulous job! Trevin had a blast hanging out with Dad all day.

Trevin will be 5 months old in another week.  SO CRAZY!!! It is unbelievable how fast the time has gone.  Although, it feels like Trevin has always been part of our family. It is almost unfair at how fast they change and grow.  We hardly get used to a stage, before it's gone. Gone are the days of a sleepy newborn, gone are the days of that tiny innocent cry and changing 6 dirty diapers a day. (Ok, that last one isn't so hard to watch leave...)  Gone are so many adorable clothes that fit him for such a short time. Gone are the chances of him being in the same position in the morning that he was in the night before. Gone is the baby that would actually cuddle with momma.  It's all gone.  I absolutely love this stage he's in now, but I will certainly miss my little man being, well, little.

He has a laugh!

Trevin is coming up on four months.  So crazy how fast it has gone.  He's weighing in at 15 1/2 lbs, and growing bigger every day.  He's getting closer to sitting up on his own.  His balanced has improved tremendously and he'll be walking before we know it! And since the last blog, Trevin has rolled twice.

My high school friend, Alyssa, came over to visit one day last week and I laid Trevin on the floor on his tummy and said, "Now, why don't you show her how you roll, since you won't show the rest of us."  I then turned around and started walking to the kitchen as I hear Alyssa say those unforgettable words, "Oh, there he goes."  By the time I turned around, he was already on his back.  I couldn't believe it! it had been over a week since he'd done it, and just like that, as I look away, he does it! Well, I tried to have him do it again, and...nothing.  Not until yesterday morning.  He rolled one time for us. :)

I also start classes next Monday, one week from today... Goodbye summer.  I'll miss you!

Trevin also hit a HUGE milestone by laughing! (4-23-12) It was one of the greatest moments of my life.  I was playing with him, and he started to let out a little giggle.  I kept teasing and soon enough he was all out laughing.  I wondered if I dare run to grab the video camera, in case he'd stop and I would ruin the moment.  After a couple of minutes I decided to try for it.  I came back with the camera and was able to get some priceless video of Trevin's first laugh.  Since then, I've been able to get him to laugh a couple times.  It's so amazing watching him grow and learn so fast.  As soon as I took the video, I sent a text to James and told him what had happened. He called immediately and asked in a sheepish voice, "Can I listen to it?" It was so sweet.  I played it for him over
the phone and I could almost hear his smile. :)

A couple weekends ago was our big Stockham 125th anniversary.  We had a weekend jam packed with activities.  It was so much fun and I was glad Trevin got to be a part of it, even though he won't remember it. We considered attempting to camp, but decided to sleep inside my parent's house instead.  haha I think it was probably the better choice, since it rained during the night.

I hosted the beard competition at the BBQ, so now that it's over, James is officially clean shaven.  :(  I was starting to like his beard.  It was looking real
nice. Oh well, I suppose I can't blame him.

James' sister Heidi and her husband Jan Michael had their baby! Jackson Paul was born on August 3rd.  We still have not met this little man, but hopefully this week! He is such a cutie and it'll be fun for Trevin to have a playmate!


This last weekend we had my cousin Seth's wedding to his beautiful bride Taylor. James and I were both in the wedding so it felt like we didn't see Trevin much all weekend.  Anyways, it was fun to celebrate with them and remember back to our wedding a year ago.  Gee, how time flies!

Saturday was also James' birthday (and my half birthday.)  We celebrated by having a huge reception and dance. Oh wait, I suppose that was for Seth and Taylor... but we partied anyway! :)

Trevin was so funny in his bath this morning.  He was all kicks and smiles!  He loves each bath more than the last.  He splashed out most of his water, but he didn't care. I actually had to make him get out.  I think he could have played in there all day!

Summer's ending, growing on the farm...

Rainy Day (or more like hour)

                                                                  Well here's our thumb-sucker.  This picture seems to be his go-to position when he's tired.  The majority of the time after he wakes up from his nap, he is doing this.  Also as he's going down for a nap, he tends to do this.  It's so cute, especially because he doesn't put his fingers in a fist, he fans them all out! Gotta love it! :)

On Wednesday, James' sister Hannah came over and helped me make strawberry-rhubarb jam.  It was so much fun and it turned out wonderful! I think I'm going to have to make some more! Today we're headed to my mom's for a scrapbooking day.  I suppose it's time to start that. I'm already almost 4 months behind! :(  And Ashton gets home from Travel Camp today; very excited to see her!

Yesterday we got rain! Not much, but it was a nice shower.  Trevin and I went to the garage and sat inside the opened door. I took the opportunity to put his boots on for the first time. Obviously, they are too big, but I thought it made a cute picture.  The rain helped cool the day, so we were able to stay outside for a while without overheating.  

Trevin didn't really react to the rain much.  We stepped out into it for a few seconds as some big drops landed on our heads.  He didn't care.  He must have discovered his shorts at this point because all he did for the next 10 minutes was stare at them.  

 The rain stopped and the clouds made for a perfect time for outdoor pictures.  The grass was a little wet so I grabbed a bucket from inside and plopped him in it.  (And Trevin plops.  He's almost 15 lbs now! Chunk-a-munk!)

He really liked those shorts.  He wouldn't look up at all.  James' uncle Dan drove by as this was happening so he pulled up and tried to get Trevin to look up. He tossed his muffs towards the bucket...nothing.  He clapped and talked...nothing.  He even started up the four-wheeler and revved it...nothing.  Only when he drove away, did Trevin look up. :)

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling...

 We're rolling! Well sort of... Sunday morning (7-22-12) before church we had Trevin on our bed on his tummy.  All of a sudden he started turning up on his side.  James and I watched in awe as Trevin grunted and rolled the rest of the way onto his back.  It's official. Trevin is rolling.  We were so giddy, we put him back on his tummy and I got the video camera.  Trevin rolled, over and over again. I think he rolled about 10 times before we left for church that morning.  We were so excited, we told everyone at church what he'd done.  We brought him home later that day and tried again....nothing. We thought, "Well maybe he's all rolled out for the day."  So we tried Monday....nothing.  And Tuesday....nothing. And I've tried a couple times this morning...nothing.  He forgot how to roll. Either that or, he is just testing our patience! Thankfully we got it on camera, so now people don't think we're losing our minds.





Trevin also smiled at himself in the mirror for the first time on 7-20-12.  It's funny now, how excited he gets when he sees that baby give him a grin. :)








Yesterday (7-24-12) I took Trevin to the chiropractor to adjust his back and neck. He's been having issues looking to one side.  While we were waiting, the secretary started talking to Trevin as I held him.  Believe it or not, he got shy! He cuddled his head into my chest and looked at her pathetically. Trevin is not a cuddler at all, so this was hysterical.  He wouldn't smile for her or talk.  He just dug his head into me.  Too cute. This proud mamma soaked it in!

I also took Trevin to a wedding this weekend.  He did so well, except he filled his pants twice during the ceremony.  (At the last wedding we were at, he had a complete blow-out during the ceremony.)  At this point, I'm glad he can't talk and tell us how he really feels about weddings, because there seems to be a trend... :S









You're probably wondering why, suddenly I'm able to update my blog at a respectable time.  Well I finished my summer classes, and it feels awesome! I start my fall semester on August 20th.  It will be tough, but God will give me the strength to get through the next year.
